Lakeside    Fishing report

Fished the above lake (Day Ticket water of 5 acres) on a long weekend visit 16th 17th and 18th May 2003

Charges per days fishing for Caravanner's were £5.00 plus £1.00 for extra rod. Adults only on fishery. Plenty of available swims, even at the weekends. No matches

Rules: Barbless hooks, no boilies, no fish over 3lb to be retained in keep nets, groundbait in moderation.

Fishing 7am to 7pm or dusk whichever the latest.

We fished the lake just in front of our caravans, which whilst very convenient was not the best area to fish because of the very windy conditions blowing directly across the swims.

Tactics were determined by the weather conditions and were either, feeder or ledger to the island or Waggler down the margins.

Baits were meat, corn, bread, cat food, and pellets (Ton-up)

Cat food caught carp to 7lb 8oz. Corn and bread caught small Tench and Crucian carp but all the bigger fish were caught on Pek Chopped Pork and were all taken on Waggler in the margins.

I managed five Tench between 5 and 6lb and a 12lb 8oz common carp and my best session produced about 40lb of fish.

Like most lakes, the fishery seemed to go dead for two or three hours in the mid afternoon and livened up again later on. The area to the left of the entrance, facing the wind fished much the better and a 6-hour bag of over 100lb was reported.

Tactics used for this bag were pellet, and meat soaked for 4 days in a green mussel attractor and were taken on pole and feeder using 2 rods.

The lake contains Common, Mirror and Crucian Carp large Bream to 10lb and lots of Tench and Chub and the usual Roach.

I shall visit this very comfortable, clean, and well run Caravan Park and Fishery again in the near future and hope for better weather.
