We've just come back from a couple of days' stay at this site, which is Adult-Only

and only a few miles North-East of Houghton Mill.

A very nice site, immaculate shower block, and an excellent restaurant.

It was a bit quiet...

In fact we were the only outfit there on Thursday! When we left this morning the numbers had soared to three other vans and five campers.

It was the first outing for our new van & everything went well. Towed like a dream, completely effortless and very comfortable.

This site is an Adults only and the facilities provided on site are some of the best we have come across on a campsite.  The toilet block is very modern and very clean.  The showers are full wet rooms comprising of shower, toilet, and wash basin in each cubicle and have won the coveted loo of the year award for several years.

Undercover dishwashing facilities are provided as well as a site shop providing the basic items.  The site provides plenty of fully serviced hard standing pitches for caravan and motor homes with around ten additional grass pitches with electrics; the tent field is opposite the lake with no electrical points available.

he site also boasts a five star restaurant which won the restaurant of the year 2007 for the county.  Using local supplied ingredients, the Barn restaurant provides exquisite food in a candlelight environment.

A tennis court is available to those staying on site, a small charge applies.

The site is also located adjacent to a 18 hole pay and play golf course which has the addition of ten pin bowling alleys.

The site is dog friendly and is located within easy reach of St Ives and Huntingdon which have all the usual town shops and supermarkets available.

We have visited the site on several occasions now and it must be one of the best run and kept campsites in the country.  The site managers and owners are very friendly and welcoming.  On arrival, you are greeted by a magnificent Green Old Oak building that houses the reception, shop, restaurant, and amenities.  The showers are always well looked after and a mop is provided to mop the shower floor after you use it.  We have visited the restaurant on several occasions and it feels weird crossing a campsite to this five star restaurant, food is served at lunchtimes and evenings and we would highly recommend a visit, but it does get very busy so booking is wise for evenings and Sunday lunches.  For those special occasions, there is a balcony in the restaurant which is idyllic but would again ask if you wanted to celebrate a special occasion.  Picnic tables are also provided outside on a patio area if you like to eat outside at lunchtime and enjoy the sun.  There are plenty of walks around the local area to exercise your dog and being flat are mostly easy walks, for those with a little more energy a visit to the pub in the local village is around a 30 minute walk.

The only minor problem is when you are staying in the tent field which is idyllic, it is quite a walk down the hill to the amenities, but saying that the site more than makes up for it.  We could highly recommend this site for a visit if quite and peace is what you are seeking and the site benefits from all year round opening.

There’s a 3 acre course fishing lake on site.  The lake contains large specimen Carp (up to 20lbs) plus Rudd, Roach, Tench and Bream.

Day tickets cost £5 and must be purchased from reception prior to fishing.1 rod or pole per person

Fishing is only allowed from dawn to dusk & from the swims

Unhooking mats must be used for all fish  and all landing nets & unhooking mats to be dipped daily in disinfectant tank No keep nets

Site shop ground bait & pellets only to be used  (Note from Gray—not keen on that idea we all have our favourites)

No Boilies or other flavoured substances

Barbless hooks only

This site has only been open just over 12 months and is really superb.
My partner and I stayed there for the first time last September, and we would recommend it to anyone.
Beautiful countryside, fishing on site (Day ticket £4 for 2 rods), peace and quiet, and no screaming brats!

There are 54 pitches (44 hard standing), all with electric hook up, drinking water and an individual ground level drain to accept grey water.
